MISSION OF AKUAPEM HILLS FOUNDATION


Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of children, women and men who live in under resourced and disadvantage communities in the Eastern Region of Ghana, especially in the Akuapem Ridge and also to ensure that our contributions become a lasting one. All our projects and programmes should resonate with the United Nations Development Goals, recognizing that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth, while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests. We believe in building long term relationships with the communities we support. Our programmes and projects may developed, in an organic way over a number of years. Our mission is to raise funds to support the Akuapem Ridge on the projects mention in this documents within the community. Akuapem Hills Foundation (Ghana) NGO which seeks to operate an Akuapem Health and Sanitation programme . It would also support community development, cultural and reforestation projects. Akuapem Hills Foundation (Ghana) would be supported by private donors and would be funded by fund raising activities such as funds from cooperate and individual organizations. Access to health facilities and health education is low in rural areas. Reproductive health care education is not universal in Ghana. Particularly impactful on adolescent females. Poor health low standard of living further exacerbate current inequalities and above serious consequences on long term prosperity. We shall make public health and the promotion of healthy lifestyles central to our work.

Education

Education in Ghana is free for all, but great disparities exists between the quality of searching in the rural and urban areas in the district such as education facilities libraries and other study spaces are limited and educational opportunities for adults are almost non - existent. With this in mind, The Akuapem Hills Foundation is to create a library or reading centre for adult and children, the foundation shall be looking for volunteers to guide the adults and children to help them acquire numeracy and literature.

Economy

Ghana has taken great strides towards eradicating poverty over the last two decades. However, economic development is highly unequal in Ghana, with nearly a quarter of the population still living below the UN poverty line. Opportunity employment are severely limited in the rural areas apart in the Eastern Region apart from farming. All our community development programmes, shall have new forms of income that can be sustained from within the communities.

Sanitation Programme

The foundation shall find resources to run health checks for the needy inclusive of personal hygiene and shall train volunteers to teach the subject of cleanliness for both the young and the old.
